WELCOME!

JANUARY 2025    WELCOME and THANK YOU for supporting Walker’s Diner and Bakery.  Hard to believe that the Diner changed hands nearly three years ago!  Behind the scenes, LOCAL ownership and the entire staff continue working hard to bring you an enjoyable dining experience where we truly appreciate each one of our guests.  Many interior and exterior updates have been made including: a new roof, new dining room ceiling, lighting and dining room chairs, flooring updates, bathroom on the main floor, equipment updates, heating and cooling enhancements, refreshed exterior and garden area, new coffee shop and dining room blinds.  There are additional upgrades and enhancements forthcoming.  All  of these updates require time, energy and resources.

Together, we strive for a high level of guest satisfaction by providing a welcoming environment and a quality home cooked meal served by friendly and caring staff.  We don’t live in a perfect world, but we strive to do our best in those situations that we may fall short.  If you have a concern, please let us know before you leave; so that we may address them.

Times are challenging as businesses across nearly every industry are short-staffed.  Hospitality is definitely no exception to this with some even closing their doors.  Operational costs of restaurants such as cost of goods, staffing and utilities, mortgage interest rates and property taxes are at an all-time high.  We do our best with the staffing and resources available.  Some restaurants are adding surcharges of up to 5% at check-out for customers that pay with a credit card or charge extra for take-out orders.  We do not plan on following this practice.  Paying with cash will help save everyone money and help keep costs down.  Despite continued increases on groceries, we had held our pricing within our menu the same since October 2023.  With this menu update, we did need a small increase on about eighteen menu items while reducing the price on several items.

Have you noticed our Agave plant-based straws, Agave to-go cutlery, Bamboo takeout containers and green biodegradable to-go carry out bags?  We transitioned to these products as soon as we purchased the Diner.  These cost more, but we feel they are worth it!  These products are more earth friendly and sustainable than petroleum-based plastics or Styrofoam.  Have you tasted the syrup?  At the table, 100% PURE maple syrup farmed from Steven’s Point, Wisconsin is available.  Infused syrup options are available with specific breakfast items.  Bottled syrup is also available for sale.  You may request ordinary pancake or sugar-free syrup.  We also feature honey sourced from Wisconsin.
The health and well-being of our dedicated staff and valuable guests is an ongoing priority.  In addition to stepping up important cleaning and sanitation procedures, we installed iWave® air purification systems right before we purchased the Diner that effectively reduces bacteria, viruses, allergens and airborne particles without creating ozone or harmful byproducts.  We also added an additional HEPA 14 air purifier in the waiting area.

We look forward to continuing to proudly serve our community and all those that pass through to visit this local Landmark that is now LOCALLY owned and has called Beaver Dam home for the past sixty years since 1965.
